Artificial Nexus Devlog - May 2025
Welcome back to the latest in my monthly devlogs, or hello and greetings if you’re here for the first time! As always, I’ll be discussing what Too Many Teeth Studios has been up to in the last month, and what’s coming up next (which means that the May devlog is covering the activity of April - yes, I know that it’s a bit unintuitive).
The big news, which I’m assuming that you’ve already heard of (how are you here if not?) is that our second game, Artificial Nexus, released on April 17th! The release has been a success so far (minus a terrifying issue discovered and fixed a few days before launch - don’t accidentally upload your saves folder to Steam, kids), with positive reviews and feedback overall. If you’re on the fence about playing it, you can read Checkpoint Gaming’s coverage of the game here or check out the footage of a streamer such as sylphrin, lechatnono, or hyuuchuu playing it!
Other than the game releasing, the majority of work done in April has been, unsurprisingly, bug fixes and post-release changes. As you can see from the list below, the actual changes have been for relatively minor things; it’s been pretty smooth sailing overall:
- Fixed up a typo in an early scene
- Fixed up some sprites that didn’t match the side portrait
- Fixed up an issue where some streamers couldn’t load their games after downloading an update
- Added in an image of Hank to the Move map
- Added in functionality for deleting personal notes
- Updated the Codeword minigame to remove some ambiguity around repeated letters
- Updated preferences to allow for muting music/effects/voice individually
So, with a game released after a year and a half of development, what’s the next step? There are a few more minor issues with the game that I’ve still investigating and intend to fix, but none of it is anything too major at this point. More notably, this Saturday I’ll be appearing on Checkpoint Gaming’s radio show to talk about visual novel development, so if that sounds like your cup of tea and you live in the right area, check it out! Other than that, what’s next for Too Many Teeth? Stick around and find out ;)
Finally, if you’ve already bought the game (thank you!) and get stuck on a puzzle, find a bug, or simply want to discuss the plot and characters with people, feel free to join our friendly Discord. If not then hey, thanks for reading anyway.
